Procedures for refunding ferry tickets with Maregiglio

Maregiglio provides several situations in which passengers can request refunds for ferry tickets.

It is important to be informed about the specific conditions and terms in order to properly proceed with the claim so as to avoid inconvenience or financial loss.

Always remember to keep the original ticket and pay attention to the terms and conditions so that you can exercise your right to a refund if necessary.

Below, we explain the main situations in which you can apply (or not) for a ferry ticket refund and their conditions.

Suppression of departure

If the ferry departure is cancelled for any reason or if the ship departs more than one hour late, the passenger is entitled to a refund of the ticket.

In these situations, there are no further claims or demands on the part of the passenger.

To obtain a refund, you can contact the ticket office that issued the ticket or send a written request by registered mail directly to the company, enclosing the original of the unused ticket, complete in all its parts.

Passenger waiver

If a passenger decides to forgo the trip, he or she may request a refund of the ticket by handing it in original to the issuing ticket office before departure or by sending a request via e-mail.

However, the refund is subject to penalties, calculated as follows:

  • 25% of the ticket price for cancellations made up to ten days before the ship’s departure;
  • 50% of the ticket price for cancellations made from 10 days up to 1 day before the ship’s departure;
  • 100% of ticket price for cancellations made on the day of departure.

In the case of round-trip tickets, the above deadlines refer to the departure date of the outward journey.

Penalties for cancellations and/or refunds of already changed tickets are based on the first departure date, regardless of subsequent changes.

Reservation fees are non-refundable, and if a passenger fails to show up for departure for reasons beyond the company’s control, no refund will be given.

When you are not entitled to a ferry ticket refund

Passengers are not entitled to refunds or compensation, related to ferry tickets, in the following cases:

  • departure is delayed by less than one hour;
  • the ferry trip takes longer than expected;
  • for technical reasons or force majeure, disembarkation takes place at a port other than the destination port.
